A cover-up is not a paint-over — it is a redesign that incorporates or hides what is already there. Some old work covers easily; some needs a few laser sessions first; some needs a different placement entirely. We give you an honest answer at the consultation, before you commit to anything.
What we will not cover up
We are honest about what we will not take on. This is not us being precious — it is us protecting the result.
- •Tattoos in a placement where the cover-up would have to be far larger than you want.
- •Hand or finger work where the new piece would also need to be on the hand or finger.
- •Cover-ups where we cannot honestly say it will heal as a piece you will be happy with in five years.
- •Anything that needs laser lightening first — we will tell you and recommend you start with that.
When the right answer is somewhere else, we will tell you. We would rather you get the right tattoo than the closer one.
Pricing
Standard hourly rate $180–$250/hr depending on artist. Studio minimum $135 (HST included). Flat-rate and full-day options available for larger pieces.
