Tattoo Services & Styles
From black & grey realism to first-tattoo guidance — every service we offer, with honest expectations on time, price, and process.

Specialty
Black & Grey Realism →
Black & grey realism is the discipline of building photo-true depth, texture and emotion using only ink density. No outlines doing the work for you, no colour to lean on — just controlled value and patience. At HeadRush Whitby this is the focus of Ross, Maks and Alina (with Amy, Apprentice, building toward it), and the foundation of the long-format European training we draw on.

Specialty
Colour Realism →
Colour realism is the same discipline as black & grey realism — building photo-true depth and texture — but with pigment doing the work that black ink alone cannot. Skin tones, fabric, fur, light. At HeadRush Whitby, colour realism bookings are mostly taken by Max and Maks; Ross does occasional colour realism, but most of his work is black & grey.

Style
Fineline →
Fineline tattoos use very thin lines — usually a single needle or a tight grouping — to draw delicate, illustrative work. Less weight, less ink coverage, more like a pencil drawing than a poster. At HeadRush Whitby, fineline bookings are mostly led by Nadija and Alina (Junior Artist).

Style
Traditional / Old School →
Traditional (also called Old School or American Traditional) uses bold black outlines and a tight classic palette — red, yellow, green, sometimes blue. Designed to last. Designed to read from across the room. At HeadRush Whitby, traditional work is mainly Max.

Style
Japanese →
Japanese-style tattoos use bold linework, controlled black, and traditional Japanese imagery — koi, dragons, oni masks, peonies, waves. At HeadRush Whitby, our Japanese-style work is led by Max.

Style
Neo-Traditional →
Neo-traditional is built on the bones of traditional tattoo work — bold lines, classic composition — but expanded with more colour, more detail, more nature, more decoration. At HeadRush Whitby, neo-traditional bookings are mostly led by Max.

Style
Illustrative →
Illustrative tattoos look like a printed illustration or storybook drawing — drawn rather than photographed. At HeadRush Whitby, illustrative work is mostly Nadija and Alina (Junior Artist).

Style
Blackwork & Geometric →
Blackwork is heavy black ink coverage — bold negative-space designs, solid fills, dotwork backgrounds. Geometric is precise line and dot work — sacred geometry, mandalas, optical patterns. At HeadRush Whitby, geometric work is led exclusively by Max; blackwork bookings are mostly Max as well.

Style
Script & Lettering →
Script and lettering is words drawn for skin — calligraphy, hand-lettered fonts, custom typography. At HeadRush Whitby, lettering is taken by all our artists, but Nadija handles most script-led pieces.

Service
Cover-Up Tattoos →
A cover-up replaces an old tattoo with a new design that hides the original. At HeadRush Whitby, cover-up bookings are taken by Ross, Max and Maks — the three artists with the most experience designing around existing ink.

Specialty
Portrait & Memorial →
Portrait and memorial tattoos are some of the most personal pieces we do — a face, a pet, a date, an honour piece. At HeadRush Whitby, portraits and memorial work are handled by Ross, Max and Maks.

Service
Sleeves & Large-Scale →
Sleeves, back-pieces, full leg pieces and other large-scale work are multi-session projects. At HeadRush Whitby, large-scale work is taken by Ross, Max and Maks.
